The Route
A forest trail from the end of Sol Duc Road reaches the waterfall and its bridge viewpoints.

- Sol Duc FallsBridge and overlooks
- Trailhead ReturnNot Lovers Lane loop
Road-End Forest Trail
The direct falls outing starts at the Sol Duc Road trailhead rather than the hot-springs resort. NPS describes the approach as 0.8 mile each way through old-growth forest with about 200 feet of elevation gain. Its endpoint is the waterfall overlook, not the higher lakes and alpine terrain farther into the wilderness.
Falls & Other Trail Connections
The waterfall area connects with trails serving the broader Sol Duc valley. Returning along the approach makes the short out-and-back. Lovers Lane instead links the resort, falls trail and campground into a six-mile loop. Deer Lake, Mink Lake and the Seven Lakes Basin are distinct longer outings; their distances, camping requirements and elevation gains do not belong to this falls-only briefing.
Terrain Along the Route
Forest trail, creek crossings and waterfall viewpoints lead to the bridge over the narrow river canyon.
The trailhead coordinate follows the mapped Sol Duc Falls Nature Trail start at the road end. The WTA map pin is farther down the access road. Reference Set: 2026-10-23.
