  3. Upper HillSteeper paved sections

Road-End Start

Hurricane Hill begins at the end of Hurricane Hill Road, beyond the main Hurricane Ridge visitor area. The trailhead is about 1.3 road miles beyond the former visitor-center site. Picnic Area B provides an overflow starting point, which adds walking and should not be confused with the road-end trail distance.

Paved Ridge & Hill

The broad asphalt trail traverses open ridge terrain before climbing more sharply toward Hurricane Hill. Its initial section has comparatively modest gradients, while later portions contain much steeper grades. The endpoint provides views of the Olympic Mountains, Strait of Juan de Fuca and Vancouver Island. Return follows the same paved trail, not the longer Elwha or Little River routes.

Terrain Along the Route

Open forest and grass slopes lead to the exposed summit switchbacks.

Approximate guide figures for the named route and endpoint, not a current measured track. Reference Set: 2026-10-23.
