Visitor-Center Loop

Hall of Mosses is the 0.8-mile loop from the Hoh Rain Forest visitor-center area at the end of Upper Hoh Road. It passes through old-growth temperate rainforest and a maple grove draped in club moss. The route stays in the lowland forest rather than following the Hoh River toward the mountain interior.

Forest & Neighboring Trails

The Hoh forest includes Sitka spruce, western redcedar, Douglas fir and bigleaf maple, with moss, ferns and fallen logs forming much of the ground-level landscape. Hall of Mosses returns to its visitor-center trailhead. Spruce Nature Trail is a separate 1.2-mile loop reaching Taft Creek and Hoh River; the much longer Hoh River Trail is also separate. Pets are not allowed on these park trails.

Terrain Along the Route

A short initial climb leads to the forest loop and its moss-covered trees.
