Highway Approach & Meadow

The trail begins directly off Highway 20, dips briefly and crosses several short boardwalks during its first quarter mile. Forest then gives way to a meadow and creek before the route returns among trees. The Liberty Bell group and Early Winters Spires rise beside the basin; climbing approaches toward those peaks are distinct from the lake outing.

Outlet & Lakeshore

The upper trail passes the granite basin below the spires, with views across the highway toward Cutthroat Peak and Whistler Mountain. It reaches Blue Lake at its outlet; crossing the outlet leads toward the remains of an old log cabin and lakeshore viewpoints. The outing returns by the same forest and meadow approach. Neither the spire climbs nor Washington Pass Overlook is part of its 4.4-mile distance.
