Humpback Creek
The Annette trail starts beside the kiosk and Asahel Curtis Nature Trail. It enters cedar, hemlock and Douglas fir forest, then crosses Humpback Creek at 0.2 mile beside a waterfall.
Rail-Trail Crossing & Climb
After a power-line clearing, the route crosses the former Iron Horse rail trail at 1.2 miles. Most of the elevation gain follows over the next 1.5 miles, with forest switchbacks, small stream crossings and open talus traverses.
Lake Basin
Beyond the final talus slope the trail becomes flatter through forest, reaching Annette Lake's north shore. Abiel Peak lies southwest and Silver Peak east; campsites are a short distance east of the arrival point. The half-mile Asahel Curtis nature loop is separate.
Terrain Along the Route
Creek crossings and forest switchbacks lead across open talus slopes before a flatter approach to the lake.

Annette Lake Trail Reports
Use this WTA feed for reports reaching the lake, including the rail-trail crossing and open talus slopes. Shorter Asahel Curtis or Sno-Park outings do not necessarily describe conditions at the lake.
Sno-Park Operations
State Parks publishes the winter parking permit and facilities for the shared Annette lot, not observations from the upper trail.
